Switching from GlossGenius

Great solo app. Then you hired.

$79/mo flat, everything included · no tiers · switch in a day. GlossGenius is a genuinely good product — for one person with one chair it may be the best deal in the industry. This page is about the other moment: when forms, a waitlist, time tracking, and commissions turn out to live one or two tiers up, and the bill starts going up every time you hire.

Why teams switch

Three things that don’t get better on their own

The features your team needs live one tier up

Standard is a genuinely good solo plan. The trouble starts the day you hire: forms and waivers, the automated waitlist, time tracking and room management all sit in Gold, and commissions and team analytics sit in Platinum. Nothing about that is unfair — it’s just a ladder, and growing means climbing it. Parlor has no tiers to climb, because it has no tiers.

A price that moves with your ambitions

Standard $24/mo billed annually, Gold $48, Platinum $148 (public list prices, verified August 2026). Add payroll and there’s a per-person charge on top. Parlor is $79 flat: every feature, every team member, one number that doesn’t change when your team does — so the software bill doesn’t go up every time you hire.

A calendar you can stop double-checking

The complaint underneath most switching stories isn’t price — it’s a book that stopped feeling trustworthy. We publish exactly how Parlor prevents that: the database itself refuses a double-booking, cancelled appointments aren’t overwritten and lost, and the deposit on the booking page is the same number that’s charged. Read how it works and judge it.

The calendar argument isn’t a slogan — here’s how we built it, rule by rule, including what we aren’t claiming.

The switch plan

Switched in a day.

The hard part of leaving is the feeling that your book is trapped. It isn’t — here’s the whole move.

1

Export your client list from GlossGenius

It’s your book and it comes out as a spreadsheet — names, phones, emails. Do it while your account is still active and in good standing, and keep the file somewhere safe whether or not you switch.

Our step-by-step for every major platform: “Your client list is yours.”
2

Import it into Parlor

Clients → Import. Parlor recognizes the GlossGenius export automatically and shows you a preview first: how many are new, how many are already in your book, how many we’ll skip — nothing is saved until you say so. Most lists take about ten minutes.

Or send us the file — we’ll do the import with you on a call, free.
3

Rebuild your menu and switch the link

Services, durations, and per-service deposits take an afternoon. Then your booking link goes in the Instagram bio and on your Google Business Profile — the same places your GlossGenius link lives now.

Your Google reviews stay on your Google Business Profile. Nothing to migrate, nothing to lose.

The trade-off

What you give up, what you get back

GlossGenius does several things we simply don’t. We’d rather you read that here than discover it in week two.

What you give up

  • Built-in email and text marketing campaigns. GlossGenius includes them at every tier; Parlor doesn’t have them at all yet, and this is the honest reason to stay if campaigns are how you fill your week.
  • Payroll, commission splits, and the automated waitlist. Those are real answers on Gold and Platinum, and we don’t have them today.
  • Text reminders, for now. Email reminders are automatic today; texts are activating as carrier registration completes.
  • A native phone app — Parlor is a fast web app built phone-first. One less thing for your clients to download; nothing to update.

What you get back

  • $79/mo flat with no tiers — forms and waivers, deposits, no-show fees, packages, memberships, and reporting are all just included, at any team size.
  • A public write-up of how the calendar is built, not just a promise: the database itself blocks double-bookings, cancelled appointments aren’t erased, and the deposit on the booking page is the one that’s charged.
  • Monthly memberships and prepaid packages — recurring credits or a standing discount, applied at checkout.
  • Automatic no-show fees charged to the card on file, with the policy shown to the client before they confirm.
  • Per-service deposits — a percentage or a flat amount, overridable per service, capped at the price of the service.
  • Booking approval where you want it: instant for a trim, request-first for a big color correction.
  • Revenue, tips, and rebooking reported per team member, with no analytics tier to buy.
  • Your own booking page and no marketplace — Parlor never shows your clients another studio.
  • Your data leaves as easily as it arrived — export your clients, your appointment history, and your payment records yourself, whenever you want, without asking us for a file.
  • Monthly billing, cancel from Settings — no contract, no one calling to talk you out of it.

GlossGenius figures are public list prices, verified August 2026, from glossgenius.com/pricing; annual prices are shown with the monthly price beside them, because the headline number on their page is the annual one. Promotions vary and prices change — check their current pricing for your exact configuration. This table isn’t a feature race: two rows on it are features we don’t have.

Questions

Asked before every switch.

Is GlossGenius a bad product?

No — and we’d rather say that plainly than pretend it is. For a solo professional it may be the best deal in this industry: polished, well designed, and cheaper than us. This page is for one specific situation — a growing team looking at a price ladder — and if that isn’t you, staying is a perfectly good decision.

How do the card rates actually compare?

Honestly: their flat 2.6% is lower than our 3.25% + 35¢ per transaction. Ours is all-inclusive — card processing is inside it, the same rate online and in person, with no separate processing invoice — and there’s no price ladder or extra payroll charge per person around it. Run your real monthly volume and your real team size against the whole bill, not one line of it.

Will my client list come over?

Yes. Export it from GlossGenius as a spreadsheet and drop it into Clients → Import. Parlor recognizes their file, shows you a preview, and nothing is saved until you say so. Or send us the file and we’ll do it with you on a call, free.

What about my appointment history and my reviews?

Reviews on your Google Business Profile stay exactly where they are — they’ve never lived inside a booking platform, and your new link goes on the same profile. Appointment history is harder: ask GlossGenius for whatever they’ll give you before you cancel, and we’ll work through it with you.

What am I giving up by switching?

Built-in marketing campaigns, payroll and commissions, the automated waitlist, and — for now — text reminders. That list is on this page rather than in week two on purpose. What you don’t give up is your data: everything you put into Parlor exports back out on your own, without a support request.

Is there a contract?

Monthly, cancel anytime from Settings. No phone call, no one trying to talk you out of it, no processing contract.

Still deciding? Tell us about your shop — a human reads it.

One price, every feature, every hire.
